A great first experience starts here.
We want your child to go to the dentist without fear. That is why we take our time, explain everything calmly, and adapt every appointment to your child's pace.
From a first introduction to prevention, control and treatment: at Nüvodent, pediatric dentistry gets its own approach.
From what age to the dentist?
From the first tooth, or at the latest around the first birthday. That seems early, but that is precisely the point: at that time, usually nothing needs to be treated yet.
This is how your child learns to see the dentist as a calm, familiar place instead of somewhere they only go when there is already pain or a problem.
An initial visit often lasts only ten to fifteen minutes. We count the teeth, move the chair, and give you advice on brushing, nutrition, and habits.
Around 1 year old
A brief introduction starting from the very first tooth, without treatment.
From about 2 to 3 years old
A routine check-up every six months and, where necessary, professional cleaning.
Around 7 years
Extra attention to the position of the teeth, jaw development, and the bite.
How does a first visit go?
We work according to the tell-show-do principle: first tell, then show, and only then do. This way, your child always knows what is going to happen.
Until about 3 years old
Your child can just stay on your lap. We will briefly check the teeth and make the visit mostly a calm introduction.
Older children
Some children like to sit in the chair independently, while others prefer mom or dad to stay close. Both are completely fine.
If your child is anxious
Please let us know in advance. We will take more time, start extra calmly, and can optionally plan an initial visit without treatment first.

What you can do at home.
The daily habits at home ultimately make the biggest difference.
Clean
Brush for your child until about seven to eight years of age. Feel free to let your child practice on their own, but brush afterwards as well.
Always use a fluoride toothpaste in an age-appropriate amount.
Nutrition
Especially the frequency of sugar is important. Limit the number of eating moments and preferably give water between meals.
Avoid milk or juice in a bottle during the night.
Pacifier and thumb sucking
Ideally, phase out the pacifier around two to three years of age. Thumb sucking should preferably stop before the permanent teeth erupt.
Loose teeth
Baby teeth typically fall out on their own. Feel free to make it a fun moment and let nature take its course as much as possible.
