Healthy gums,
a healthy foundation.
Gum inflammation often develops insidiously and without pain. At Nüvodent, we treat gum problems in a targeted and careful manner, with a focus on preserving your own teeth.
Take care of the tissue around your teeth.
Periodontology is the branch of dentistry that deals with the gums and jawbone: the tissue that holds your teeth in place.
When that tissue becomes inflamed, we call it gingivitis. If left untreated, it can progress to periodontitis, which also affects the jawbone around the teeth.
Early intervention makes all the difference. The sooner we treat the inflammation, the more gum and bone we can preserve.
When does your gums deserve extra attention?
Bleeding gums
Gums that bleed when brushing or flossing.
Red or swollen gums
Sensitive, red, shiny, or swollen gums.
Bad breath
Persistent bad breath or an unpleasant taste.
Receding gums
Teeth that are beginning to appear visibly longer.
Sensitive teeth necks
Sensitivity to hot, cold, or sweet foods.
Loose teeth
Teeth that become looser or shift.
From diagnosis to long-term aftercare.
First, we accurately map out what is going on. Then, we treat the inflammation and work together to build a result that remains stable in the long term.
Periodontal examination
We measure the gum pockets around each tooth and map the bone level to create a customized treatment plan.
Professional cleaning and root planing
Tartar and bacterial plaque are thoroughly removed, including below the gum line. The root surfaces are smoothed so that the gums can heal again.
Periodontal maintenance care
Regular check-ups and professional cleanings help prevent the inflammation from returning and support a stable long-term result.
Periodontal surgery
With deeper pockets, we can surgically access the roots and treat the affected area more thoroughly.
Gum graft
Receding gums can be treated to reduce sensitivity and better protect the tooth.
Treatment of peri-implantitis
Inflammation around implants requires specific treatment to protect the surrounding gums and bone as effectively as possible.
Prof. Dr. Curd Bollen
Prof. Dr. Curd Bollen treats patients with complex gum problems and peri-implant diseases.
With over 27 years of experience, he combines specialist expertise with a careful and personal approach.
Good to know.
Can periodontitis be cured?
We can successfully control and stop periodontitis, but lost bone does not grow back completely on its own. Good treatment and consistent follow-up care are therefore important.
Does the treatment hurt?
The treatment is performed under local anesthesia where necessary. Afterwards, the gums may be temporarily sensitive.
What happens if I do nothing?
Untreated periodontitis can lead to further bone loss, receding gums, and eventually loose teeth or tooth loss.
Why is aftercare so important?
Periodontitis tends to recur. Regular check-ups and professional cleanings help keep the treatment results stable.
Does gum health affect my overall health?
Oral health and general health are connected. Therefore, we do not just look at individual teeth, but at the health of the entire gums and surrounding tissues.
Get your gums checked.
A periodontal examination provides clarity and enables timely treatment.
